This is a spiritual ministry open to all parishioners especially the elderly and homebound. This is a special way of serving our parish through private prayer. Prayers are offered for the world, the church and in particular the needs of our own parishioners. There are no meetings or dues. We ask only for your prayers united in a bond of love. To date we have more than 200 people in this ministry. For more information please call Sister Patricia Walsh at 634-1761 or E-mail her below.

January/February 2012

Dear Friends,

As we begin this New Year, it is hard to believe that our Ministry of Praise is beginning its 20+ year here in St. Francis de Sales Parish. How blessed we have been with all of those prayers offered over the years for our parish, our Church and our world! We realize that we are merely the instruments, God does the work. Some of you have been with this prayer ministry all of these years, some became members along the way and many are now praying from their heavenly home for all of us. Our most recent member, Eleanor King went home to her God on December 23rd. Let us remember her.

During the month of January, we celebrate the feast of our patron, St. Francis de Sales. He was a man who had a great love of the Church and all God’s people. May he send all of us the many blessings we need during this new year.

When sickness comes upon us, it is not easy to concentrate on our prayers. How comforting to know that during those times many other Ministers of Praise are praying for us.

This month please pray for:

for all who are suffering because of economic or family problems
for those who fight the constant battle of addiction
for the lonely and those experiencing feelings of depression during these dark cold days of winter
for families in crisis at this time
for peace in our world, in our families and in our own hearts
Thank you for praying for all of us.

PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS DE SALES

BE WHAT YOU ARE AND BE IT WELL, FOR THE HONOR OF THE MASTER WORKER WHOSE MASTERPIECE WE ARE.

“Do not fear what may happen tomorrow.

The same loving Father who cares for you today,

will care for you tomorrow and every day.

Either He will shield you from suffering,

or, He will give you unfailing strength to bear it.

Be at Peace then, and put aside all anxious

thoughts and imaginings.”

May God bless you,

Msgr. John J. Brown Sister Patricia Walsh

P.S. Pray for each other.
